Shawn Levy, the director of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ plays coy about Taylor Swift Dazzler Rumors

At CinemaCon, the director disclosed information regarding the forthcoming film to ET from backstage. Regarding the possibility that Taylor Swift will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in his upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, Shawn Levy remains silent. Thursday at the 2024 CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards hosted by ET’s Kevin Frazier, the 55-year-old director astutely replied “mum’s the word” in response to a question regarding the veracity of rumors that the 34-year-old superstar will (further than she already does) illuminate the entire set as Marvel Comics character Dazzler.

ET questioned the recipient of the Director of the Year Award on the subject, but he continued to avoid disclosing Swift’s participation, or lack thereof, in the film.

Because of her close relationship with Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, the “Karma” singer has long been the subject of rumors. In October, speculation increased when Levy supported Swift’s beau, Travis Kelce, during a game.

Regarding the evidence supporting the Swifties, a number of significant hints indicate that Swift, whose eleventh studio album is expected to be released later this month, will appear in the Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-led project alongside the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since September 2022, when Reynolds, 47, and Jackman, 55, used the teaser to declare the film was shot in the same house where Swift filmed All Too Well: The Short Film, fans have known that the film was produced in the same residence. Swift’s name then rapidly appeared in headlines, where speculation circulated as to whether she would portray the X-Men-affiliated comic book character with the mutant ability to transform sound into light.. a little too much?

ET interviewed Levy in November; he is also recognized for having directed Ben Stiller in the Night at the Museum films and for collaborating with Deadpool on Free Guy (2021). In that interview, Levy provided an identical response regarding T-Swift’s possible participation in the film. At the time, he told ET, “That was merely a Sunday evening hangout with some friends that developed into much more.”

Subsequent to that, anticipation for the third installment in the Deadpool franchise has significantly increased, particularly since February, when Disney and Marvel Studios unveiled the initial official trailer during Super Bowl LVIII.

Perhaps coincidentally, Swift and Lively, both 36 years old, were in attendance at the game between the San Francisco 49ers and Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs. In a humorous twist, the Gossip Girl actress’s spouse utilized her presence at the game as a prank to mock her for failing to attend the trailer’s premiere.

Previous Marvel stars such as Jennifer Garner (Daredevil) and Halle Berry (X-Men) are also rumored to appear in the multiversal film, alongside Swift. Channing Tatum, whose name was once attached to a Gambit film that never materialized, has also been mentioned in connection with possible cameo appearances in the film.

Beyond Reynolds and Jackman, additional confirmed cast members for the film consist of Emma Corrin, who starred in The Crown, Matthew MacFadyen from Succession, and Morena Baccarin, who is returning from Deadpool.

Screenings of Deadpool & Wolverine commence on July 26.
